Program for Students with Disabilities

An inclusive education system ensures all students have access to a quality education to meet their diverse needs.

The Program for Students with Disabilities and the Language Support Program provide a range of supports and initiatives to assist government school students with additional learning needs, including those students with disabilities.

What is the Program for Students with Disabilities?
The Program for Students with Disabilities supports the education of students with disabilities in Victorian government schools by providing schools with additional resources. Resources are provided to schools to assist in the education of students with disabilities, not to individual students.

Who is eligible for the Program?
Victorian government school students with a disability and additional learning needs are eligible for the Program for Students with Disabilities, provided they meet the eligibility criteria for one of seven categories.

What are the categories?

The categories within the Program for Students with Disabilities are:

  1. Physical Disability
  2. Visual Impairment
  3. Severe Behaviour Disorder
  4. Hearing Impairment
  5. Intellectual Disability
  6. Autism Spectrum Disorder
  7. Severe Language Disorder with Critical Educational Needs
