REGIONAL LEADERS SIGN 'GIPPSLAND YOUTH COMMITMENT' AGREEMENT

INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF LANGUAGES CELEBRATION

The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development held a dinner in Morwell recently to celebrate the International Year of Languages.

A gathering of forty-five educators, teachers and community members from Gippsland attended the function in May and were addressed by the Regional Director of Education and Early Childhood Development, Michonne van Rees and guest speaker Dr Jane Orton.

KOORIE STUDENTS CELEBRATE ACHIEVEMENT

The achievements of senior Koorie students from across Gippsland were recognised at a presentation celebration at Monash University Gippsland Campus last week.

This year 60 Koorie students from nine schools across Gippsland completed Years 10, 11 and 12; a figure that has progressively increased over recent years.

GIPPSLAND PRINCIPALS' FINAL FAREWELL

Over 1000 collective years of education experience was celebrated recently as 27 retiring government school principals were officially farewelled.

The function recognised the careers of government school principals from across the region who retired during 2006 and 2007.
