Newly appointed principals are supported in a number of ways by Central Office, the Gippsland Region, networks and colleagues.

Soon after taking up your position, a mentor will be appointed to support you. They will accompany you to the Department’s Mentoring for First Time Principals Program and be available to help you through the first year of your principalship. If this partnership is not working for you, please discuss your concerns with your Deputy Regional Director or Project Director (Leadership).

The DEECD Mentoring for First Time Principals Program consists of five sessions; two in the first term of a new principal’s appointment and one full day each term over the next three terms. Further information can obtained at Mentoring for First Time Principals
