The Gippsland Regional Office initiated the 0-School Entry project in 2005 to support the development of:
- Best practice transition processes for students and families moving from early childhood services to school
- Programs and processes to enhance literacy acquisition.
The 0-School Entry project provides support to Gippsland based Best Start projects and other community based early childhood initiatives with literacy and education based outcomes. It facilitates and supports networking and collaboration between early childhood and school staff throughout Gippsland, and provides information sessions to parents about school readiness and early childhood literacy.
The project is a practical example of the Department’s vision to integrate early childhood development services with education to give students of all abilities the best start in life. |
