About Us

The Gippsland Region of the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development comprises a regional headquarters in Moe with offices in Warragul, Sale and Bairnsdale.

The Region services 140 primary schools, 19 secondary colleges and six specialist schools, two alternative settings, two P-12 colleges, a P-8 school, three primary annexes and the Victorian College of Koorie Education.

These schools are located from Nyora and Longwarry in the west to Cann River in the East, to Cowes in the South and up to Goongerah, Tubbut and Dargo in the North.

Within the overall vision and mission of the Department, the Gippsland Region is committed to ensuring that “every school is an excellent school and that every student receives an education of real value.”

The highest priority for the Gippsland Region is the continuous improvement of all government schools through the implementation of the directions set by the Government in its “Blueprint for Government Schools”. This is a far reaching reform agenda for government schools that is intended to significantly improve both the performance of all schools and the educational and wellbeing outcomes for students. To achieve this, ongoing change is required in the culture that underpins school leadership and school operations.
